Landscaping ideas (and helpers!) needed

A Landscaping Committee was officially formed at the August 17 Board meeting. This new committee has an important role in maintaining & improving the landscape of our community -- helping to maximize our home values!

Anyone is welcome! Share your ideas, ideas, ideas! Sue Swanson is the committee lead, Jason Pynn is the Board representative and six others have already volunteered to serve. Volunteers will be needed to help plan, make recommendations to the Board, plant, and maintain any newly planted areas.

To join the fun -- and participate in planning meetings or planting parties -- contact Sue Swanson at 425-441-8162.

Early ideas include:

Landscaping around unsightly utility boxes.

Planting between homes to beautify & "screen" barked areas.

Enhancing the sparse landscaping in beds in front of homes.

Adding flowers (bulbs) beneath the trees along Hancock.

Replacing the dead/missing plants & trees that are no longer under warranty by Quadrant Homes.

  1. I would like the Board and Landscape Committee to consider using Alterra Landscape Servies, Owner Rich Riser 206-915-6781, riserinc@comcast.net at Mt Si. Rich does lots of commercial jobs and has been instrumental in engineering the beautiful flowers and landscape at the Snoqualmie Casino.
Also, I would be happy to be on the Landscape Committee. Sandy Hurst 425-941-0825

  2. Maintaining and improving landscaping of our community is a great idea. But the question is: how are we going to buy the plants? I hope it does not come with an increase in monthly dues. Plants are expensive and board does not have extra funds. With today’s business environment, it would be extremely hard for our families to see an increase. Current monthly dues of $224 are already too high. We need to focus on bringing the costs down. It’s a good idea to have another committee that can come up with ideas of brining costs down. Please don’t make affordable homes unaffordable.
